Mr. Lanciani grew up in Everett, Massachusetts. He spent time at Boston University, but enlisted in the Marine Corps after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. When he returned from the Marines in 1945, he began his career working in advertising for a weekly community newspaper, the Cambridge Chronicle. During the course of his career, he worked at a variety of New England newspapers, retiring in 1984 as Vice President of advertising at the Providence Journal.
After his retirement, Mr. Lanciani moved to Harpswell, Maine and later to Topsham, Maine. He enjoyed his years in the Brunswick area and wanted to give something back to the community he grew to love. Mr. Lanciani passed away on July 15, 2009. In his will, he bequeathed a very generous, six-figure amount to BASAF. The communities served by BASAF greatly appreciate Mr. Lanciani’s generosity.
