Romain & Lucille Brillant Fund

Romain_and_Lucille BrillantRomain Brillant was born in Topsham in 1924. He graduated from Brunswick High School and entered the Navy during World War II, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific.  After the war, he attended the University of Maine and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education.  Prior to settling in as a business teacher at Brunswick High School, Romain taught at Fort Kent, Caribou, and Morse High Schools.  He retired from teaching after 32 years in 1982.

Romain served on the MSAD 75 Board of Directors for 11 years, was BASAF’s Treasurer for 25 years, was a Director of the Topsham Public Library and was a Director of the Brunswick Humane Society.

Lucille was a homemaker and was known as “Mrs. B” to the many children she cared for over the years.  She loved to play the game “Scrabble” with friends.

Awards from this fund are based on student financial need, after which recipients are requested to be residents of Topsham.
